A look back at ANNAPURNA

Ten years ago, Honest Pint Theatre Company brought Sharr White’s Annapurna to the Triangle, staging it at North Raleigh Arts & Creative Theatre with direction by Dana Marks and a two-hander performance by Co-Artistic Directors David Henderson (Ulysses) and Susannah Hough (Emma). The late-August / early-September 2015 production earned glowing notices for its nuance and emotional heft.

Critics praised the staging’s clarity and power—one review singled out the production’s “power and grace,” calling it “among the best plays we’ve ever seen… acting at its finest.”

The show went on to win Set Design, Acting, and Best Drama at the inaugural Triangle Theatre Awards, marking a milestone moment for our young company and setting the bar for the work to come.

As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Annapurna, we’re grateful for the artists and audiences who helped launch Honest Pint into a full professional stride.

EVERY BRILLIANT THING

by Duncan Macmillan with Jonny Donahoe

Since we founded Honest Pint Theatre Company, we've never been tied to a single stage or a single building. We've been fortunate to tell stories in wonderful spaces throughout the Triangle, and every time we begin a new production, we look for the place where that particular story can have the greatest impact.

Today, we're excited to tell you where the next one is taking us.

This October, Honest Pint Theatre Company is partnering with The Performing Arts at Barton College to present Every Brilliant Thing by Duncan Macmillan with Jonny Donahoe at the Kennedy Family Theatre on the Barton College campus in Wilson.

There are plays that entertain you. There some plays that move you. And then there are the rare plays that quietly change the way you look at the world. Every Brilliant Thing is one of those.

It's funny. Incredibly funny. It's heartbreaking. It's hopeful.

Most of all, it's a reminder that we don't experience life, or theatre, alone.

In fact, every performance is different because the audience helps tell the story. Some of you will read from the list. Some may briefly become characters in the play. Everyone becomes part of the evening. It is theatre in its most human form: strangers gathering together to tell a story that belongs to all of us.
